The Atlas Comparative databases enable you
to tap into the most comprehensive clinically-oriented databases
available.
Because the comparative databases incorporate data at the patient
level, you can drill-down into clinical areas to identify potential
sources of variation. This ability to make external comparisons
allows you to identify both areas on which you excel as well as
areas that need improvement.
- MQ Profile Database
MediQual's™ national comparative database, composed of administrative
and clinical data, enables healthcare facilities to compare performance
of outcomes and resource use against a national norm. The database
closely mirrors the AHA's geographic and bedsize distribution.
This database is provided to all Atlas Outcomes clients.
- Mortality Benchmark Database
The Atlas Mortality Benchmark Database lets you compare
your clinical performance to that of top performing national hospitals
when used with Atlas Outcomes. You can determine your strengths
and weaknesses and identify true cost and quality opportunities.
MediQual™ selected the benchmark hospitals from its master
database based on low mortality rates and lengths of stay compared
to the MQ Profile database. Each topic contains data from as many
as 25 hospitals for sixteen disease and procedure based topics.

- Peer Database
Comparative databases without specific healthcare facility identifiers
are derived from MediQual's™ master database. Used with
Atlas Outcomes, Peer databases provide focused external
comparisons to healthcare facilities with similar compositions
or characteristics. Examples of peer comparisons include: Urban,
Academic Medical Center, Bed Size, Pediatric and Regional.
- Research
MediQual™ maintains a master database from which Research
databases may be constructed. MediQual™ has a history of
providing specialty databases to academicians and clinicians for
specialized research purposes. Please call 800.350.6444 for pricing.
